Board Chair Hall of Fame
September 2020
I am humbled to be named to the Board Chair Hall of Fame by Cause Strategy Partners. This award recognizes my work as Chairman of the Board of The Family Center. Cause Strategy Partners helps social good organizations achieve their missions fueled by great leadership, great strategy, and most importantly, great results. To be recognized by them in this way is indeed an honor!
The work I do with The Family Center is incredibly rewarding in and of itself, so I truly do not seek recognition or reward for it. However, I am sharing this award with you here in hope that it sheds more light on the important work that The Family Center does, serving families and children who are affected by crisis. I, and my entire team, would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to you for your trust and support over the past 10 years.
During this time, we have had the honor of working to fulfil our guiding mission: to empower our clients to live their lives to the fullest, and to confidently pursue their goals, worry-free about finances.
It has been an incredible journey. Starting out as a one-man operation in 2009, Field Financial Strategies has grown to include offices in two states, clients all over the country, the support of a dedicated staff, and a cadre of professional experts from The Nautilus Group. We hope for many more years working with wonderful clients like you, and look forward to all the great things to come!
Again, I’d like to express a sincere “Thank You” for your support and your business over the past 10 years! I like to say that great people connect great people. If you see value in the work we have done for you, please keep us in mind and pass along my contact information to those you think may benefit. After all, referrals are the cornerstone around which my practice has grown and, truly, are the highest compliment you can give me. Thank you, again, for your trust, encouragement, and business over the years. I look forward to meeting more great people like you and to work with you successfully for many more years to come!
Third Community Impact Grant
April 2019
On Sunday, April 14th, Joel was honored to present The Family Center with a $20,000 check representing the third Community Impact Grant New York Life has awarded to The Family Center in four years. This grant supports The Family Center’s Brooklyn ACTS program, Action for Child and Teen Success, which supports children impacted by trauma with counseling and other supportive services. Community Impact Grant
August 2018
In August 2018, Joel Field was recognized once again for his philanthropic leadership in the community! The New York Life Foundation awarded Joel a $20,000 Community Impact Grant to benefit The Family Center. Joel is a dedicated champion of The Family Center and he serves as Vice Chairman of the Board for this organization which works to help families in New York who are struggling with family crisis or loss.
This grant supported The Family Center's Brooklyn ACTS program (Action for Child and Teen Success): www.thefamilycenter.org
In funding this program, we are ensuring that children and families, who have been exposed to trauma, receive specialized trauma-informed services including: psychological and psychiatric screenings for PTSD for all family members, TF-CBT or SPARCS for children and teens, RPC for parents or caregivers, case management to ensure these families access all benefits to which they are entitled, medication management for those family members requiring psychiatric treatment, and care management to coordinate health care services for children with complex trauma.
As a result of Brooklyn ACTS, The Family Center expects that 75% of enrolled children and their families will achieve at least 3 of the following outcomes: (1) Increased understanding of the impact of trauma and common childhood reactions; (2) Increased mastery of parenting skills to optimize children’s emotional and behavioral adjustment; (3) Increased stress management skills; (4) Increased ability of children and parents to identify and cope with a range of emotions; and (5) Reduced avoidance that interferes with daily functioning (i.e. of trauma reminders).
Additionally, through community training and education conducted by the Brooklyn ACTS staff, community members and staff of local child-serving systems (including schools, child welfare, and juvenile justice) will be able to recognize and respond to the signs and symptoms of trauma and emotional distress. Through a rigorous evaluation, The Family Center will determine the efficacy and impact of the Brooklyn ACTS model, will disseminate findings and will use evaluation and cost data to contribute to the ongoing NYS discussion on how best to strengthen the mental health safety net for at-risk children and adolescents.
